
Dennis McCloskey, Esq.
Dennis M. McCloskey is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the MedTech industry. He has served as Senior in-house counsel for a large global MedTech company, specializing in Fraud & Abuse and related federal laws and regulations including Anti-Kickback and False Claims Act matters, as well as Healthcare & Corporate Compliance. Dennis has a proven track record of working with cross-functional international teams and senior executives to achieve commercial goals. His expertise includes drafting and reviewing hundreds of agreements, ranging from product development and third-party product procurement to sales agreements. Additionally, Dennis is a seasoned litigator who has conducted well over one hundred jury trials.
Dennis’s career at Olympus Corporation of the Americas spanned over a decade, where he held various leadership roles. As Associate General Counsel, he led counsel for Olympus’s Therapeutic and Surgical medical device business across all corporate and commercial functions. He drafted and negotiated numerous agreements in support of a wide variety of business functions and provided chief legal support for the US procurement team. Dennis advised business leaders and employees on legal matters, including healthcare compliance, FDA regulations, suppliers, distributors, litigation, and employment matters4. He was also a trusted business partner for senior executives, advising on the risk profile of business operations and strategic initiatives.
Prior to his role as Associate General Counsel, Dennis served as Compliance Officer-Executive Director from December 2012 to March 20226. He oversaw all Corporate Compliance function activities and program implementation for two global divisions and several Olympus subsidiary companies7. Dennis led compliance oversight and support for Olympus Global Therapeutic Solutions Division, with personnel in the US, Japan, and Europe7. He was a member of the core leadership team that successfully completed adherence to multiple criminal and civil settlement agreements with Federal agencies as part of the largest medical device kickback settlement in US history. Dennis also oversaw corporate investigations and co-chaired the Company’s Internal Investigations Committee.
Dennis began his legal career at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where he served as Assistant District Attorney from August 2003 to December 2012. He prosecuted offenders for homicide and other major offenses, facilitated investigations of complex murder cases, and presented evidence through the testimony of many civilian and police witnesses1112. Dennis’s strong communication and advocacy skills enabled him to persuade jurors and judges effectively13. He worked in a high-pressure and stress environment, demonstrating exceptional organization and adaptability to unforeseen circumstances1. Dennis holds a Juris Doctor from Temple University, Beasley School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Boston College.
